Lupe is a 4th generation Arizonan and trusted public education advocate. He has worked in the Alhambra community as an organizer, government official, and community leader.

Lupe Conchas was born in Phoenix and a 4th generation Arizonan. He is proud to be the first person in his family to graduate high school and attend college. Lupe’s community involvement started in Tucson at the University of Arizona with the Arizona Students’ Association fighting for lower tuition prices and cheaper textbooks. Since then he has worked to break down barriers that limit access to quality public education and higher education.

In 2016, Lupe served as the Elections Specialist for all 58 school board elections under the Maricopa County Superintendent of Schools. Before that, he served in the Arizona Department of Economic Security assisting families in the eligibility process for Nutritional Assistance, AHCCCS (Medicaid), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families. In 2017, he served as a Community Organizer for Promise Arizona and managed the field and voter registration operation for the Alhambra Elementary School Bond/Override election and the “Clean Dream Act” campaign.

From 2018 to the end of 2019, he worked at Phoenix College as the Service Learning & Food Pantry Coordinator which provided hungry college students with food and other resources to be successful. He now serves as the Southwest Regional Organizer for Bread for the World and works to end hunger in the United States and globally.

Lupe was elected to serve on the executive board of the Arizona Democratic Party as the Affirmative Action Moderator. He is an active community leader and has worked on several statewide and local campaigns. He enjoys traveling the state and exploring the beautiful mountains and trails. He is the oldest of his many brothers and sisters and considers his mom his biggest supporter.

Lupe did not take the decision to run for Alhambra Elementary School Board lightly. It is a tremendous responsibility. We hope that you will support him in 2020. You can help by committing to sign his petition, volunteering, and voting before Nov. 3rd!
